Homeopathy for Skin Wounds
Posted by Dr. Lisa Samet N.D. on Feb 23rd 2016
Superficial skin wounds, whether they be scrapes, cuts, or puncture wounds, happen to us all.
Before the advent of OTC and prescription sprays, lotions and creams, an old standby used by physicians and consumers alike was iodine and iodine cleansers. And boy did they sting when applied!!!
Happily, homeopathy is a wonderful option for safely and effectively treating minor wounds.
Here is a short list of remedies every home homeopathic remedy kit should contain:
Calendula: This homeopathic remedy is made from the common pot marigold and is wonderful for cuts and scrapes when used in a topical ointment, spray, or gel form.
Hypericum: These wounds are often known for their shooting pains as well as numbness and tingling. Fingers that have been crushed in a door or hit with a hammer often respond very well to Hypericum. At times, puncture wounds may also call for Hypericum.
Ledum: This homeopathic remedy is often considered for use wherever you find a painful puncture wound that feels cold to the touch and feels better from cold applications. A wound that feels warm or hot to the touch would not be suitable for Ledum.
Another great option is WHP's Be gone Cuts and Scrapes. Made with Calendula as well, it too is great to have in the medicine chest!
Homeopathic remedies have been used for over 200 years by hundreds of millions of consumers to treat simple injuries of all kinds. They work beautifully and do so painlessly. They are truly a gift to humankind.
*As with any medical condition, consult with your physician if you have any concerns about the severity of your injury or the progress of your recovery.
