WHP Timeline

Washington Homeopathic Products Timeline

• Established in 1873 as Washington Homeopathic Pharmacy.

• WHP served the Washington DC community including the National Homeopathic Hospital.

• October 1991, Joe Lillard purchased Washington Homeopathic Pharmacy (renamed Washington Homeopathic Products).

• June 1993, Lillard opened Homeopathy Works in the spa town of Berkeley Springs as its public face. The store was located on Fairfax Street, a popular tourist thoroughfare, and allowed customers to view the actual manufacturing process as well as featuring a museum with many items from the company's early beginnings in Washington, DC.

• Summer of 2004, WHP’s Bethesda location was closed and all operations moved to Berkeley Springs.

• WHP was awarded the Governor’s Commendation for International Market Entry in 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007, 2011, 2015, 2016 and 2017.

• January 2006, WHP began production in the newly constructed manufacturing facility in the Morgan County Business Park. The in-town storefront continued operation.

• WHP was recognized by the US Small Business Administration’s 2007 WV Small Business Exporter of the Year.

• September 2007, WHP offered a three-hour Beginning Homeopathy Workshop for Retailers, which included a question and answer lecture session and a facility tour.

• October 2007, WHP hosted a lecture by Dr. Rastogi about Homeopathy and Emergencies. WHP strives to offer and or support educational programs.

• January 2008, Joe & Linda Lillard accepted an invitation by WV Governor Joe Manchin to attend his State of the State address at the Capitol in Charleston, WV. They sat in the House Chamber and were recognized for WHP’s e-commerce capabilities and exporting to more than 40 destinations around the world. 

• March 2008, WHP launched the Poison Ivy Pack consisting of a 2 oz spray bottle of the popular Rusto Lotion – topical treatment of poison ivy, poison oak, bug bites and athlete’s foot paired with a 1 oz bottle for WHP’s #1 selling product Poison Ivy pills for the possible prevention and treatment of poison ivy and similar rashes. This product is the ideal size to be easily tossed in a day bag to help with uncomfortable encounters with bugs and poison ivy in the outdoors while hiking or picnicking.

• March 2009, Joe Lillard awarded US Small Business Administration’s 2009 Business Person of the Year for West Virginia.

• May 2009, Joe Lillard went to Washington, DC to accept the US Small Business Administration Award and was invited to the White House to hear President Obama speak on the values of small business to the economy.

• December 2009, WHP moved all of its customer service and administrative offices to the Morgan County Business Park at the southern tip of Morgan County in West Virginia (11 miles south of the town of Berkeley Springs.) This move improved customer service and efficiency and brought all WHP employees under the same roof.

• April, 2011, WHP embarked on a Buy Local campaign to reach out to local retail customers by bringing awareness to the benefits of working with a local company. As a result of this, WHP began offering educational workshops to retail stores for both customers and employees.

• August 2012, WHP launched its new and improved website to facilitate users' web browsing experience.

• March 2013, at Natural Products Expo West, WHP launched its WHP Be gone™ Brand consisting of three homeopathic product lines: five ointments in the ointment line; six combination remedies in the combination line; Scratch-N-Itch spray and Poison Ivy pills in the poison ivy line.

• September 2013, at Natural Products Expo East, WHP launched an additional 12 combination remedies under the WHP Be gone™ Brand.

• May 2014, another 6 combination remedies were added, for a total of 24 combination remedies available under the WHP Be gone™ Brand.

• November 2014, WHP limited time offer: throwback jarred ointments with original WHP labels. While supplies last!

• December 2014, WHP went Solar! Mountain View Solar installed solar panels for the building’s electricity and a solar station for charging cars.

• April 2016, at the annual JAHC conference, Joe Lillard received the 2016 Julian Winston Service Award from the National Center for Homeopathy. The award honors a person who has contributed substantially to the National Center of Homeopathy in a voluntary capacity.

• May 2016, we added new WHP Be gone™ combination remedies: Stress and Stings.

• May 2016, Joe sadly passed away but his legacy and love for homeopathy lives on in all those who work at WHP.

• August 2016, Belle Noorzai, Joe’s daughter, began working for the company as the Director of Sales & Marketing.

• April 2017, WHP converted to using GMO-free alcohol in the manufacture of its products.

• May 2017, we offered an instructional webinar hosted by Dr. Lisa Samet on homeopathic remedies for a child’s first year.

• November 2017, WHP released a children's line of homeopathic ointments and added to the ointment line with the product Be gone™ Hemorrhoids.

• November 4, 2017, WHP hosted customer tours of the facility and an exclusive customer screening of the homeopathic documentary Just One Drop. We were thrilled to welcome the filmmaker Laurel Chiten to be a part of this special event with a Q & A session following the film.

• December 2019, WHP began offering body care products from Weleda and expanded our offerings of Nelson Bach RESCUE REMEDY® products.

• March 2020, we expanded our mom and baby products to include products from Earth Mama® Organics.

• June 2022, we released a new 30C and 200C 50-Remedy Kit

• October 2023, we released 11 new & improved WHP brand combination formulas! 

• March 2024, we released a 50-remedy 30C homeopathic remedy kit and a 50-remedy 200C homeopathic remedy kit!
